National beading week is a fantastic opportunity for all of us in the beading community to share our passion with our beading friends, it also provides us with a chance to promote beading in our community to those who have yet to become addicted! I have been passionate about beads for 30 years, and was so delighted when I joined the Beadworkers Guild in 1999 to find other people shared my enthusiasm, and that’s the best part of meeting other beaders, they are all so generous, in sharing beads, techniques and resources, so wherever you are during NBW please share your love of beads
NBW Ambassadors: Alison and Sylvia Wray McCann
The enthusiasm which is displayed during beading sessions is very rewarding. To see someone who could not even thread a needle become a confident beader, and another feeling confident enough to create their own designs is very exciting. We are delighted to play a small part in everyone's journey, and to give help and encouragement whenever possible. Each year new friends join us in our enthusiasm for beading, which is especially evident during NBW. Long may it continue.

When I look back at my association with beads I am truly amazed at how it has changed my life. I started to teach beadwork, while I was still employed as an administrator in a law firm. I had never taught, didn't even know I could teach. Much to my surprise my classes became popular. My association with beads has enriched my life beyond belief. I have met so many interesting, creative people and made such good friends. There's always something new to think about – new projects, ideas, materials, people to meet. So many times I've gone to dinner with beading friends and as we sip our first glass of wine, we toast saying "Here's to beads, without beads we wouldn't be here together". I hope that this wonderful art is as good to others as it has been to me.
